Ahmed Bhayat is an Associate Professor and the current Head of the Department of Community Dentistry, at the School of Dentistry, University of Pretoria. He is the chair of the postgraduate committee and a member of the Research committee at the School of Dentistry at the University of Pretoria. His research interest includes cariology, early childhood caries, dental public health, health policy, Human Resources and dental education. He has published over 50 articles in peer reviewed journals, has more than 750 citations and has presented at numerous conferences both locally and internationally. He is the current South African International Association of South Africa (IADR) representative for the University of Pretoria and the current treasurer for the Africa Middle East Division (AMER) of the IADR.
